Stuck in Orbit is a simple 2D shooter made in pico8 for Ludum Dare 47's compo where the game will get faster each batch of enemies you defeat until your ship is fast enough to escape from orbit

This is my first attempt at compo, I am a programmer first, who sometimes does art. This is the first time I’ve made music for a game so hopefully its not terrible.


Controls  - should support a generic controller Find a better controls explanation by clicking the small gamepad next to the pico8 player

up & down arrow keys to move

X to shoot

O will mean Z if you're using a keyboard

I've tested a usb snes style controller, shoot functioned as "a" or "y" and the other 2 face buttons replicate the Z of the keyboard
also a ps4 controller circle will shoot, cross will restart if you lose.
I can only assume that xbox controllers would work meaning B would should and A would restart

Source code can be downloaded below ld47_source_code.p8 to view the source code either open it with pico8 or use notepad++ or similar text editor

Cute little game, I had a hard time seeing the enemies. The music sets a cool retro sci-fi vibe though.

Thanks, yeah I wanted to try and make the enemies more visiable but I couldn't work out a good way to do it.
